About Bill Sengstacken - TopStax Principal

Bill SengstackenBill Sengstacken started TopStax in January of 2009 with a goal of assisting emerging Business to Business (B2B) firms to establish their brands and marketing positions. Bill brings a wealth of proven marketing strategy skills coupled with hands-on tactical execution abilities that makes TopStax able to comprehensive solutions for its clients.

Unlike traditional marketing agencies, there is literally no separation between the strategy team and the creative team. Indeed, Bill works with TopStax clients to develop comprehensive strategies, and then leads the creative execution of those strategies. There is no disconnect.

While Bill can produce creative execution for both the web and in print, he always asks probing questions of the client to better understand where they are, what they are trying to accomplish and who they are trying to reach. Sadly, many pure graphic designers fail in this crucial step. The designer could be the most gifted artist in the world, but if they don't understand your business and your market, they will fail. Every time.

Bill's Bio

A New York native, Bill left the Empire State to attend the University of South Carolina, where he attained his BA in English with a marketing minor. He accomplished this while also serving in the South Carolina Army National Guard, where he earned the Army Achievement Medal in 1990.

After graduating from USC, Bill soon found himself on a career path that had him as a key contributor to the marketing success of such companies as Apple Computer, JBoss, Red Hat, Lancope, Terracotta, Air2Web and the WOWappeal agency. It was during this time that Bill attained an expertise in the Adobe Suite of design tools, and taught himself how to code websites in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Never forgetting that design comes well after strategy, Bill has served as Brand Manager, Marketing Director and Field Marketing Manager in the B2B space. His affinity for technology goes back to his formative years, when he worked in landscaping and delivered newspapers so that he could buy his first computer, an Atari 800, in 1981.

Bill presently owns a home in Atlanta, where he is a passionate season ticket holder for both the Atlanta Thrashers and Atlanta Braves. He is a voracious reader, loves music from indie bands, enjoys gardening, playing with his cats, and likes to volunteer for causes he believes in. He may also be the only native New Yorker who knows how to make boiled peanuts. Seriously.
